FAQ

Where do your walks go?

We currently offer walking excursions in Tuscany, Italy on the Via Francigena and the Via Podiensis through southern France. In 2023 we plan to add two additional walks in the Dolomites of northern Italy and a new section of the Via Francigena.

How hard are your walks?

Our walks are designed to give our travelers a choice! Read our trip descriptions to determine if a specific trip is right for you. We have included detailed information on each walk's page to help you decide the level of challenge you wish to take on. It is the responsibility of each participant to be physically prepared for the walk they choose.

Will I be able to do this?

We will provide you with a training plan. If you are in generally good health, and follow the training plan, you will be ready to walk by the time you get on the plane. Long distance walks are challenging but worth it!

What do I need to bring?

We will provide you with a packing list that covers the essentials as well as extras. We will advise you on how to choose the best backpack and footwear for you.

What does the trip cost cover?

We cover all accommodations, ground travel, most bag transfers, and most meals after you have joined the group. Packed lunches are usually not covered. You are responsible for airfare, some selected meals, and any other incidentals.

How do I get from the airport to the first night's accommodation??

We will provide you with specific directions from the airport to the hotel we will stay in the first night of your itinerary.

What if there's an emergency?

We maintain relationships with a variety of transport companies and local taxi services. Walk leaders are trained in emergency response and first aid. Your travel insurance should cover costs incurred in a medical emergency.

Is this a religious trip?

People complete pilgrimage routes and long-distance walks for a variety of reasons. Although this is not an inherently religious walk, these routes do have deep spiritual roots. Any religious activities are optional and not a core part of our excursions.

Can I come by myself? Will that cost more?

You are encouraged to come as a single traveler! Our trips are designed as pilgrim experiences so you will always have your own bed but will often have a roommate. Same cost no matter what. We do not charge a single supplement if you end up having a room to yourself some nights.

What is your cancellation policy?

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to hold your spot. The non-refundable balance is due by March 31, 2022. Many of our lodging partners are family-run, cash-based businesses. That's what makes them desirable but many require payment up-front.

Is airfare included in the price?

Airfare varies greatly depending on the location of each client and their airline preference and is therefore not included in the price. Participants must arrange for their own transportation to the hotel where we meet on the first night.

How many people will be on this trip?

Our trips consist of two excursion leaders and a maximum of 8 participants. Our goal is to offer a custom experience in a small group that is supportive and personal.

What if I have other questions?

Please don't hesitate to fill out the form on our contact page and submit your question! We are happy to answer any and all inquiries.

What about Covid-19?

Proof of Covid-19 vaccination, as well as boosters as is appropriate, is required for all of our participants due to the fact that rooms will be shared.

Both France and Italy have strict measures in place to mitigate the spread of Covid. There are border entry restrictions that you need to be aware of. You will not be allowed to board the plane if the proper documentation is not provided to the airline. The Covid-19 pandemic is constantly changing and countries adjust their rules accordingly. Please use the links below for the most current information on entry requirements.

Why is the balance non-refundable after March 31, 2022?

Many of our lodging partners are family-run, cash-based businesses. That's what makes them desirable! Since we must pay cash up-front for many of the accommodations we use, we cannot refund the trip balance after this date. That said, if we have a replacement for you from our waiting list who takes your spot, or you can find someone who wants your spot, we will happily refund the balance save the original $500 deposit.
